This act is a federal law that was developed in order to ensure every state has the same set of comprehensive standards that strengthen the nationwide network of sex offender registration and notification programs.

As we began the 2011-12 session in the House of Representatives, my first priority, as Majority Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, was to immediately move legislation out of the committee to amend Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law. Soon thereafter, it was passed by the full House and sent on to the Senate, where it remained for eight long months.
