Marsico Hosts Senior Expo Oct. 25 at AACA Museum

HARRISBURG – Rep. Ron Marsico (R-Lower Paxton) today announced his 2012 Senior Expo will once again be held at the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum in South Hanover Township. The expo is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, and no reservations are required.

“Seniors, their families, and all friends are encouraged to join me at this free expo,” Marsico said. “This year’s event will offer a large scale one-stop opportunity to gather useful information so area seniors can live a well-informed, healthy lifestyle. A wealth of information on senior-oriented programs, opportunities, and resources will be readily available. Also there will be free admission to the museum, musical entertainment, lectures and a light lunch. This is sure to be a vibrant experience for seniors.”

On hand will be a variety of vendors with information pertaining to government services, health care, elder caregiving, insurance, estate planning, recreation, nutrition, exercise and social opportunity. Free flu shots will be available as well as free health screenings for: blood pressure, osteoporosis, strength, depression, glaucoma, and visual acuity. Presentations by PA State Police, Penn State Hospital, Penn State Extension and the Dept of State Voter I.D are scheduled. One-on-one counsel with local, county, state, and federal agencies will be available as well as expertise on programs pertaining to; veterans, adult day programs; hospices; medicare certified home health agencies; home care; retirement communities; personal care homes; hospitals; emergency assistance; and elder law and consumer protection.

“The Senior Expo will be a fun day with opportunity for guests to receive a full array of vital information in an entertaining and enjoyable venue,” Marsico said. “The AACA museum provides a perfect backdrop to ensure seniors get great information and also have a good time.”

Tony Angelo, a multi- talented vocalist opening up for Sammy Davis Jr. and once with the McCoys “Hang on Sloopy’ and Jay and the Americans “This Magic Moment” will offer free, engaging, musical entertainment.

Museum admission usually costs $9 for seniors over age 61, but will be free and open to the public.

Co-sponsors for this year’s event include: PPL, Highmark, Comcast, PA Association of Community Bankers.
